Legislative Committee Meetings Scheduled, Tues., June 29, 2004.

Tuesday's legislative committee meetings include, in the House, the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee's Subcommittee on Informational Technology, as well as meetings of the Finance, Labor Relations, and Health and Human Services committees. In the Senate, the Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Law and Justice, Appropriations, Public Health and Welfare, Transportation, and Rules and Executive Nominations committees are scheduled to meet.     Legislative Committee Meeting Results, Mon., June 28, 2004.

    On Monday, in the House, the State Government, Labor Relations, and Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Transportation committees met. In the Senate, the Urban Affairs and Housing, and Appropriations committees met, while the scheduled meetings of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Rules and Executive Nominations committees were postponed.     Results from yesterday's committee meetings include, in the House:

    • STATE GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE: Reported out HB2749 with a request that it be re-referred to the House Labor Relations Committee, went over HB2212 pending further information from its prime sponsor, Rep. Petrarca, and reported as amended HB2694 .

      The committee initially voted 12-14 to reject an amendment to HB2694 offered by Rep. Hutchinson (No votes were cast by Reps. Bishop, Coleman, Cruz, Curry, Evans, Fabrizio, Freeman, Gabig, Horsey, Josephs, Manderino, Vitali, Waters and Youngblood) but after adjourning the meeting due to House floor activity, the committee reconvened and voted 14-11 to reconsider Hutchinson's amendment. The amendment then passed by a 14-12 vote and the bill was approved as amended by a 15-11 vote. (No votes on final consideration were cast by Reps. Bishop, Cruz, Curry, Fabrizio, Freeman, Horsey, Josephs, Manderino, Vitali, Waters and Youngblood.) The committee also was briefed on the bill by Genderal Services Secretary Don Cunningham, who told lawmakers that Gov. Ed Rendell would veto the measure if it reached his desk.

    • AGRICULTURE & RURAL AFFAIRS COMMITTEE: Reported as amended HR797 and reported as committed HR770 .
    • LABOR RELATIONS COMMITTEE: Unanimously reported as amended SB1139 . Three amendments were added to the bill, each adopted unanimously.
    • TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE: Reported as committed HB2745 and SB1092 .
